Peter lends his business skills and experience in the plant variety development and commercialisation industry to his role as Business Development Manager for Triticarte Pty Ltd. As Commercial Director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Value Added Wheat (VAWCRC) since February 2002 and its Managing Director since October 2005, Peter is responsible for commercialisation of intellectual property (including wheat germplasm and varieties) developed in the CRC, and so he has had a key role in the establishment of Triticarte Pty Ltd – a VAWCRC joint venture company with DArT P/L. His prime function is to provide strong leadership, drive and innovation for the development of the business and ensure the ongoing commitment of the “team” in the development and provision of Triticarte’s products and services. He assists in managing the business through the development and implementation of the business plan and marketing strategies, aiming to make Triticarte Pty Ltd the preferred supplier of genotyping services to the wheat and barley breeding programs in Australia. One focus is on the development of standard operating procedures to develop an efficient management structure and defined areas of accountability.

	Within VAWCRC, Peter has a key role in developing strategic alliances with organisations (core partners and external) for financing and conducting the development and commercialisation of VAWCRC's research outputs. His activities span negotiation of research contracts and commercialisation agreements, management of the intellectual property portfolio and register and maximising revenue through commercial activities. He is involved in the planning and management of research conducted by VAWCRC to meet the requirements of core partners and other stakeholders, and in development and implementation of VAWCRC's business strategy, reported at Board level.
