A senior research administrator and bioscientist who has worked for thirty-five years in research and at Board level in the international agricultural industry, largely in the commercial sector, Bill has been responsible for multi-national programs of research with benefits to agriculture and for the creative functioning of large research organisations, especially commercial ones. He has world-wide experience of the management of large research budgets and of handling interactions between private and public-sector or government organisations in times of change. His principal interest is in the effective leadership of excellent science towards improved profitability in agriculture.

Currently responsible for a cooperative research program of wheat (bio)chemistry and genetics, agronomy, and food technology, involving more than sixty scientists and technicians in nine principal participant organisations, including commercial companies (eg Arnott’s Biscuits Ltd), the Grains Research and Development Corporation and Sydney University. Also adjunct Professor in the Plant Breeding Institute of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources in the University of Sydney.
