Combining scientific and business skills, Eric has been active in instituting a number of organisations for research and technology transfer throughout his career. He established Diversity Arrays Technology Pty Ltd in 2001 to commercialise a novel technology for high throughput and low cost genotyping of plants and animals. He previously established the Australian arm of Limagrain's biotechnology research, Groupe Limagrain Pacific (GLP), to engineer artificial male sterility in crops and design ribozyme-based virus resistance genes for crops, and represented GLP on the Board of the Cooperative Research Centre for Plant Science from 1991-1998. Since 1992, he has also been involved in the scientific and corporate management of the CSIRO and GLP joint venture, Gene Shears Pty Ltd. Returning to France from 1998-2001 as Biogemma’s Director of Plant Genomics Research, and subsequently Chief Scientific Officer, Eric coordinated Biogemma's research programs, oversaw external scientific collaborations and evaluated third party technologies, and was instrumental in founding Génoplante (www.genoplante.org), the French public/private consortium for plant genomics research. Eric is the author of several publications and book chapters and inventor of several technologies, patented or with patent pending internationally.
